MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) – While Friday the 13th may be a sign of bad luck for some, Spread Goodness Day helped give it a better image today.
Barrel & Beam held the Celebrity Pie Smash for Spread Goodness Day. Sixteen local celebrities lined up to give guests a chance to smash a cream pie in their face. Guests purchased a ticket to either smash, or to block the pie instead.
Proceeds from the event helped support Six Feet Under, a non-profit suicide prevention organization. Spread Goodness Board Member Hanna Westra says the money will help all of the U.P.
“That fund is for the entire U.P. And right now, there’s two families in the U.P. who actually need those funds, and so this is directly helping those individuals…those families,” Westra said.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) also announced that Mar. 13th will be Spread Goodness Day in the state of Michigan.
