Roman Polanski
Director Roman Polanski was banned from the Academy in 2018, decades after he fled to France after pleading guilty for unlawful sex with a minor in 1977.
Polanski has been nominated for an Oscar several times since 1977 and even won Best Director for The Pianist in 2003. Many believed his expulsion should have happened far earlier than 2018.
Bill Cosby
Bill Cosby was also removed from the Academy in 2018 after he was found guilty of the sexual assault of Andrea Constand. Cosby has been accused of drugging and sexually assaulting many other women.
