The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has paused filming due to an alleged domestic incident involving main star Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex Dakota Mortensen.

TMZ and People have both reported that filming for the Hulu reality show’s fifth season has halted.

“They are not filming,” a source told People about Mormon Wives. “Taylor [Frankie Paul] has some pretty serious stuff happening regarding her past, and they will see what happens. Until that resolves, they are off.”

Hulu has not yet responded to The Hollywood Reporter‘s requests for comment.

A spokesperson for the the Draper City Police Department told the outlet that there is an open “domestic assault investigation” between Paul and Mortensen. They added that “allegations have been made in both directions” and “contact was made with involved parties on [Feb] 24th and 25th.”

An additional source told People that the cast is distancing themselves from Paul amid the situation: “None of the women want to be associated with her,” they said.

The shocking news arrives only days after the release of Mormon Wives season four and less than a week before Paul is set to star in The Bachelorette. Her casting marks a first for the franchise, as she is the first person from outside of Bachelor Nation to lead the series.

THR has also reached out to ABC for comment, but did not hear back by the time of publication.

The Bachelorette star was previously arrested for domestic violence in February 2023, in another incident involving Mortensen. The fallout from her arrest, and her turbulent relationship and pregnancy with Mortensen, was captured for the first season of Mormon Wives, which catapulted to quick success for Hulu.

Paul and Mortensen share one child, Ever True, who was born in March 2024. She has two additional children from her first marriage.

Paul’s journey leading up to filming for The Bachelorette was captured for season four of Mormon Wives. Throughout the installment, she and Mortensen hooked up a few times, though the two did not officially rekindle their flame.

Ahead of the release of season three of Mormon Wives, Paul told The Hollywood Reporter the installment would shed light on how their relationship ended. “I think there’s definitely a story in there that pretty much sums it up, honestly. It sums it up to why and how,” she said, referring to a revelation that Mortensen sexted her mother’s friend during one of their splits.

More to come.
