An incident at the end of the 98th Oscars involving One Battle After Another star and Best Supporting Actress nominee Teyana Taylor and a security guard has gotten the attention of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The altercation involved an employee of the Oscars’ outside security firm Security Industry Specialists. According to TMZ, Taylor was attempting to get back onstage for a group photo after her One Battle won Best Picture, the night’s final award, when she was physically stopped by a guard.

Footage from the incident showed Taylor turning around and speaking presumably to the guard, saying, “He’s putting his hands on a female.” She gestured to him, adding, “You’re very rude, very rude, very rude.” She turned to another guest and was heard saying, “He literally shoved me.”

The Academy sent out a statement addressing the incident Monday.

“We were extremely upset to learn about the experience endured by Teyana Taylor at the end of the Oscars ceremony last night,” it read in part. “We have worked with Teyana over the last several months during awards season, and she has been nothing short of remarkable, supportive, kind, and all about community.

“Though the incident was with our outside security firm SIS, the experience of every single guest is our responsibility. We have made it clear to them that this behavior is not acceptable. We want to thank Teyana for showing remarkable grace, and we are taking the appropriate measures to ensure this does not happen again.”

After the statement went out, Taylor responded on X, saying, “Thank you to @TheAcademy
I really appreciate your unwavering love & support.”

SIS told TMZ in its own statement in part that “This is not the standard of professionalism we expect from our team, and we have addressed the matter internally to help ensure situations like this do not happen again.”

Taylor’s One Battle won a leading six Oscars on Sunday among the film’s 13 total nominations. In her category, Weapons star Amy Madigan took the prize, with Taylor jumping out of her seat in excitement after Madigan’s name was called.
