Prime Video just dropped the trailer for Jack Ryan: Ghost War. Billed as an “all-new major movie event”, the action-thriller, which is slated for release on 20 May, serves as a continuation of the streamer’s Jack Ryan series. Reprising the titular role, John Krasinski (A Quiet Place) returns as the former US Marine turned CIA Agent, Jack Ryan.

Joined by his TV co-stars, Wendell Pierce (The Wire) is back as the CIA’s deputy director and Jack’s boss, James Greer, while Michael Kelly (House of Cards) and Betty Gabriel (Clickbait) reprise their roles as private security contractor, Mike November, and CIA director Elizabeth Wright, respectively.

Boasting a stellar line-up, newcomers Sienna Miller, Mckenna Bridger, Max Beesley, Douglas Hodge and JJ Feild round out the cast. At the helm, Andrew Bernstein (Ozark) serves as director. Meanwhile, Krasinski and Aaron Rabin (Nobody 2) are credited with co-writing the screenplay, which is inspired by Tom Clancy’s Ryanverse.

As per an official synopsis: “In this new film, Jack Ryan is reluctantly thrust back into the world of espionage when an international covert mission unravels a deadly conspiracy, forcing him to confront a rogue black-ops unit, and the clock is ticking.

“Operating in real time with lives on the line and the threat escalating at every turn, Jack reunites with battle-tested CIA operative Mike November and former CIA boss James Greer, their combined experience the only edge they have against an enemy who knows their every move.

“Backed by an unlikely new partner – razor-sharp MI6 officer Emma Marlowe (Sienna Miller) – Jack and the team navigate a treacherous web of betrayal, facing a past they thought was long put to rest – making this the most personal, high-stakes mission any of them have ever faced.”

Ahead of the film’s premiere, Krasinski has teased what’s to come. Speaking with Collider in May 2025, the actor said: “We were so excited to do a movie. As much as the longform storytelling was a whole different ballgame to play in, it’s really fun to reduce it down and condense the timeline and therefore the tension. So, we’re getting to do all the big fun action movie stuff that we didn’t get to do in a television show.”

Jack Ryan: Ghost War will premiere globally on Prime Video on 20 May.
