Rebecca Gayheart attended the Los Angeles premiere of The Drama on Tuesday, her first public appearance since her husband, the actor Eric Dane, died at 53 last month after a years-long struggle with ALS. Gayheart posed for a photo alongside the couple’s young daughters, 16-year-old Billie and 14-year-old Georgia, who came to the event with her.
Gayheart and Dane were married for 13 years before separating in 2017, but they remained close and never got divorced. In an essay for The Cut last year, Gayheart opened up about supporting the actor through his public diagnosis and navigating anticipatory grief with their young daughters. “The hardest part about it being public is just knowing, when we go out to dinner or something, that there are eyeballs on you,” she wrote.
A few days before The Drama premiere, Gayheart told Variety her family is “still in a state of shock” after their loss and thanked the entertainment community for their ongoing support. “They’ve been holding me and the girls up the last two weeks, and I don’t think they’re going anywhere,” Gayheart said. “Hollywood gets a bad rap. That kind of makes me mad, because we have a lovely community of people, and I’m so grateful for them.”
