Kidman, 58, and Baker, 56, star in the new Amazon Prime Video forensic thriller series based on the same-name book series by Patricia Cornwell, Scarpetta. The series premiered on the platform on March 11, and to promote it, the two were seen oozing affection at the NYC premiere, holding hands on the red carpet, and engaging in “deep conversations” at the The Twenty Two hotel after-party.
According to Woman’s Day, the potential romance is a “nightmare come true,” as the country music star feels very “threatened” by Baker.
“Seeing Nicole and Simon holding hands was the equivalent of seeing his best mate with his missus and it did a number on him,” a source told the magazine. “He knew it was natural for her to lean on Simon. He was also there for Naomi [Watts] after her split from Liev [Schreiber]. The difference is back then Simon wasn’t single.”
In Scarpetta, Kidman and Baker play married couple Dr. Kay Scarpetta and Benton Wesley. Per the outlet, “Nicole Kidman says their chemistry ‘just vibrates,’ while Simon Baker coyly joked, ‘I don’t kiss and tell.’” The outlet’s source says the two go way back, with Kidman being friends with Simon’s ex-wife Rebecca Rigg and serving as the godmother to Baker’s son, Harry Baker, who is 24.
Keith Urban ‘Threatened’ by Simon Baker
As for Urban, the source for WD said, “[He’s] hoping they’re just hamming it up for headlines. But even then it feels to him like it’s a betrayal. Because both Nicole and Simon know how much even the hint of a romance between them will hurt him.”
They continued, “He already suspected they were getting close while filming,” adding, “This is his worst nightmare come true. He hates that they’re giving interviews about how close they are. He’s in total shock that she would flaunt a new relationship so soon after their divorce. It’s not what they agreed on for the sake of the girls.”
The source then added context about why Urban might feel so threatened that this is the real deal.
“Simon poses a real threat to Keith because the girls absolutely adore him,” they said. “He’s been like a fun uncle to them since they were babies. If Nicole’s in a relationship with Simon, he needs to be told. He can see it impacting on his already fractured relationship with Sunday and Faith.”
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban Split
Kidman and Urban’s split became public September 2025, with the two finalizing their divorce in January 2026. Following the news, Kidman shared with the public that’s OK and ready to move on.
“I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good,” she told Variety on March 11. “What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward. That’s that. Everything else I don’t discuss out of respect.”
Kidman added that she remains focused on co-parenting her and Urban’s daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
“I’m staying in a place of, ‘We are a family,'” she said, “and that’s what we’ll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women.”
Kidman is also mom to Isabella Cruise, 32, and Connor Cruise, 30, whom she shares with ex Tom Cruise.
Keith Urban Dating Rumors
In October 2025, Urban was the subject of dating rumors of his own.
“The rumor is that he’s with a younger woman in the business,” a Nashville music industry source told Daily Mail. “It’s all everyone is talking about. Everyone wants to know who, but so far, that’s a mystery.”
In January of this year, the supposed girlfriend, Karley Scott Collins, broke her silence, saying the allegations were “absolutely ridiculous and untrue.”
Similar unconfirmed rumors previously linked Urban to musician Maggie Baugh.
