The world may be on fire, but you can leave it to the Princess of Wales to bring the sizzle as she shone in green, this week. Catherine wore the shade twice – once, to celebrate St Patrick’s Day on Tuesday, and again, at the State Banquet for Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu on Wednesday.

But back to Catherine – she attended a parade of the Irish Guards, in Aldershot on Tuesday, for St Patrick’s Day, as Colonel of the regiment. She looked fabulous in her green Alexander McQueen coat, Gina Foster hat and Ralph Lauren boots, all of which she’s worn multiple times before, which makes them even greener. She updated the coat with a black belt, this time.

Catherine handed out shamrocks and met Seamus, the Irish Wolfhound mascot, as well as cadets and their families. She looked to be having a great day out. She followed it up with another green dream on Wednesday – a silk gown by former designer, Andrew Gn, with the Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara and green Manolo heels, at the State Banquet at Windsor Castle. It’s on these occasions, you can really see her and William come into their own and get a glimpse of what they’ll be like as monarchs.

William had some green missions of his own – joining Radio One’s Greg James on his epic 1000km tandem bike ride for Red Nose Day and giving a hilarious interview as he pedalled. He then sped to Bournemouth for his Homewards UK initiative, to show an international delegation what his charity is doing in the region.

The King was also on the south coast this week, officially opening the King Charles III England Coast Path in the Seven Sisters Country Park. The coastal path is a 2,700-mile national trail and the longest continual, managed, coast path in the world. We wonder if The Salt Path author Raynor Winn will walk this one? That’s another story… Charles also opened The Seven Sisters National Nature Reserve and looked to be thoroughly enjoying his day in the spring sunshine on Thursday. Kerry, as editor of The British Travel List, is tempted to tackle a section of this path (whether she persuades Maria to join her will depend on how many cafes/pubs are on the route), so do subscribe to our sister newsletter for updates. Among the many things we love about our Queen, one of them is the mischievous twinkle in her eyes. Which is why Camilla had a hoot with a famous mischief maker, Dennis the Menace this Monday. The Beano character is turning 10 for the 75th time this year, and Camilla was at the National Library of Scotland in Edinburgh to join the celebrations and publicise the launch of the ‘National Year of Reading’ as patron of the National Literacy Trust.

Camilla even tried her hand at drawing Gnasher (Dennis’s dog) and found herself immortalised as a character in the legendary The Beano magazine. Her cartoon version comes to the rescue of Dennis after he’s told off by his mother for reading a comic in a library while wearing headphones. Camilla tells Dennis and Gnasher: “Go all in for the National Year of Reading, Dennis! Comics and audiobooks count too!”

However, Camilla best cover your eyes now, because Louis was voted the top royal mischief maker in a poll to mark the 75th anniversary of Dennis the Menace.

The seven-year-old was chosen as the 22nd most mischievous person among 75 famous people, which included George and Charlotte, his uncle, Harry, and his grandfather, Charles. A thousand children who were surveyed by The Beano. Harry Harry came in at number 24, George at 29, Charlotte at 38, and Charles at 54. Louis is called “the monarchy’s official mischief correspondent”, while Harry is “royal by birth, rebel by nature”.

Scottish Rugby on Instagram: “Sione finally gets his hug 🤗”

“Sione finally gets his hug,” posted Scotland Team Instagram. And so a viral moment was born when Princess Anne embraced Sione Tuipulotu, captain of Scotland Rugby Union team.

The Princess Royal and the player shared a long-awaited hug last weekend, following Scotland’s Six Nations match against Ireland. Anne and Sione made headlines after sharing an awkward moment in February, when the royal turned an excited Sione’s offer for a hug after the team’s win against England into a handshake.

As we wrapped up this week’s newsletter, the Mail on Sunday’s front page landed with shock claims that the now disgraced Sarah Ferguson was involved in talks to clone the late Queen’s beloved corgis for a US-based reality TV show.

In May 2023, the exclusive report claims Sarah was keen to leverage her royal status and monetise her guardianship of Muick and Sandy. The paper says: “She was pushing to get back into TV and make some money,” said a source. “She came up with the idea of featuring the Queen’s corgis in a show. And that included the idea of breeding them. Bizarre as it sounds, the idea of cloning them was discussed.”

Although entirely blameless, the unsuspecting corgis now find themselves living privately with Andrew Mountbatten Windsor on the Sandringham estate. The paper also claims Princess Beatrice’s six-year marriage to Edo Mapelli Mozzi has hit a rocky patch.
