Two people are injured every day on average at GTR stations due to passengers taking risks such as running for trains, obstructing the doors or carrying excess baggage on escalators, according to new data from the firm.
The Travel Safe with Diane Morgan video highlights such “common station safety no-nos”, with the comedian seen sprinting down the platform and trying to stop closing train doors.
GTR says its survey of 2,000 people suggested 32% of passengers did not realise running for a train could be unsafe.
Samantha Facey, GTR’s health, safety and security director, said some of these habits were “so ingrained that they stop feeling like risks at all”.
