A source said Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s UK visit could lead to backlash
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly expected to visit the UK in July this year. Their visit will kick off the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. It is an event for disabled military personnel.
This would be the first time in about four years that Markle would visit the UK. She last visited Britain in September 2022 for Queen Elizabeth’s funeral. Amid this, a new report by The U.S. Sun suggests that the Royal and VIP Executive Committee is assessing the level of risk to Harry and Meghan and whether to reinstate or adjust their security arrangements.
A source from the Home Office said that the decision to tighten the Sussexes’ security is not an easy one. They said, “There is nervousness among certain members of the committee who fear a public backlash.”
The source continued, “The political side believe there is too much political risk, while the police and security chiefs believe that he absolutely must have it due to the extant threat.”
Harry and Markle’s security for the visit is still under review. This follows a legal case Harry lost last year. He had taken the matter to the High Court to contest the level of official security provided to him and his family during their time in the UK. However, he lost the legal battle.
