EXCLUSIVE: Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, who launched their hit podcast Las Culturistas in March 2016, are celebrating its tenth anniversary with a new deal.
The pair have struck an exclusive renewal deal with iHeartMedia and Will Ferrell’s Big Money Players. Terms of the multiyear deal were not disclosed, but it’s likely to have been a significant pact given the growing success of the brand.
They will celebrate the anniversary with an episode featuring Nicole Kidman.
The show is a pop-culture comedy podcast that sees guests discuss their cultural experiences starting with the question: “What was the culture that made you say ‘Culture is for me’?” It also includes the segment: I Don’t Think So, Honey, adored by its listeners, which the duo regularly refer to as readers, publicists, Kayteighs, finalists and Kyles.
They have interviewed the likes of Mariah Carey, Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga, Reese Witherspoon, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Aniston and Charli XCX over the years.
Yang and Rogers also launched Las Culturistas Culture Awards last year with the awards show airing on Bravo and Peacock.
The podcast was originally part of the Forever Dog podcast network before moving to Ferrell’s Big Money Players podcast network and iHeart in 2020.
“We couldn’t be happier to continue Las Culturistas alongside our friends at iHeart and Big Money Players. Hopefully people start spreading the word about podcasts, a medium with a lot of potential,” said Rogers and Yang.
“I don’t think so, Honey? Well I do think so,” said Ferrell. “To say we are honored to have this partnership renewed is an understatement. Bowen and Matt have created through hard work and their brilliance, a podcast that continues to entertain, through humor and inclusion, a massive, ever-growing audience. They are two of the funniest people ever and dare I say it…great Americans.”
“It’s been an incredible decade for Matt and Bowen as they grew Las Culturistas into a cultural powerhouse as influential as the ‘Rules of Culture’ they set for us every week, and we’re thrilled to continue our partnership as they keep defining and ranting about culture with the biggest names in the business,” added Will Pearson, President of iHeartPodcasts.
Yang and Rogers are represented by UTA, 3 Arts and SRDA.
