WASHINGTON (TNND) — King Charles III is expected to make a visit to the United States as soon as next month.
While details are still in the works, the King is expected for a state visit in late April, Punchbowl News was first to report, citing multiple sources involved in the planning.
The three-day trip is expected to include a state dinner at the White House, a stop in New York City and an address to a joint meeting of Congress, the outlet reports. The House is now scheduled to be in session for the last week in April.
The visit comes before America’s 250th anniversary and is not the first meeting between the King and President Donald Trump during his second term.

In September, President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump went on a state visit to the United Kingdom. It marked a president’s rare second state visit to the U.K.
Trump said he loved being back in the United Kingdom, calling it a “very special place.” When asked if he had a message for Charles, he said the king was a longtime friend of his and well-respected.
While there, Trump also held talks with Prime Minister Keir Starmer, where the pair signed a historic tech deal.
House Speaker Mike Johnson also traveled to the U.K. in January, where he became the first speaker to address the parliament.

The last state visit made by a member of the British Royal Family to America was in 2007, when Charles’s late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, attended the Kentucky Derby and marked the 400th anniversary of the settling of Jamestown, Virginia. In 1991, the late Queen addressed Congress.
