Kotb said the full interview, which will be released later this week, explores the police investigation, Savannah Guthrie’s faith, and her joy despite the circumstances.

This month, Pima County Sheriff Sheriff Chris Nanos, who is leading the investigation, said authorities believe they have a motive and Nancy Guthrie was “targeted” although he declined to publicly say why, citing the ongoing investigation.

A nationwide search has turned up potential clues, including DNA evidence and ransom notes, but no suspect has been identified.

Nanos warned the suspected kidnapper could carry out another abduction in the same area Guthrie was taken from her home.

“It’d be silly to tell people, ‘Yeah, don’t worry about it. You’re not his target,'” Nanos told NBC in an interview. “Don’t think for a minute that because it happened to the Guthrie family, you’re safe.”

The Guthrie family donated $500,000 in February to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, saying they are “hoping that the attention that has been given to our mom and our family will extend to all the families like ours who are in need and need prayers and need support”.
