Warner Bros. Discovery has revealed the name, first trailer and release date for its anticipated new Harry Potter series.
The reveals were made at an event in London to celebrate the launch of HBO Max in the country.
Titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, like the first installment in the movie franchise outside the U.S., the show will launch globally on HBO Max on Christmas Day this year. Above is the first trailer.
The logline reads: There is nothing special about Harry Potter — at least that’s what his Aunt Petunia always says. On his 11th birthday, a letter of admittance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry opens up a hidden world for Harry: one of fun, friendship and magic. But with this new adventure comes great risk as Harry is forced to face a dangerous enemy from his past.

“Your parents were the bravest, kindest people I’ve ever met … they stood up for what they think is right. … Next time I see you will be in Hogwarts,” Hagrid tells Potter. “Mr. Potter, I think we can expect great things from you,” Ollivander, the wand maker, later says to him.
