Catherine Tyldesley, who is best known for starring as Eva Price on Coronation Street, has filmed her final scenes in another TV role after making a comeback to the ITV soap
Catherine Tyldesley returned to Coronation Street last October
Coronation Street icon Catherine Tyldesley has quit her role on The Good Ship Murder. The actress, 42, is best known for starring as Eva Price and made a huge comeback to the world’s longest-running TV soap late last year as her alter-ego became the new landlady of the Rovers Return.
But Catherine has also played First Officer Kate Woods on Channel 5 drama The Good Ship Murder since 2023, and appears alongside her former Coronation Street co-star Shayne Ward as Jack Grayling.
The actress was able to take a short break from her commitment with the soap to film her exit scenes, and now bosses of the Channel 5 series have started to look to the future of the show.

Channel 5 commissioning editor Greg Barnett said: “Audiences have truly embraced the show’s unique combination of mystery, music and escapism, and we are excited to continue Jack’s journey with even more surprises and new faces in store
Executive producer Andy Morgan added: “It’s a bittersweet moment as we bid a fond farewell to a beloved character and friend, but we’re very excited about the next voyage for The Good Ship Murder.”
It comes after insiders claimed that Catherine had sought permission from Coronation Street bosses to take time off to film her final scenes as Kate.
A source said: “Cath spoke to her bosses at Corrie about takin g some time off to film her Good Ship exit and they agreed. When she agreed to return to the soap, there was a lot of uncertainty about whether or not she would be able to go back, but fortunately, it’s all working out.”
Speaking to The Sun, the source added: “There was talk about possibly killing off her character but in the end bosses decided that she would get a happy ending.

“The writers are delighted that Cath is able to return to film her exit. Cath and Shayne have formed such an incredible partnership on-screen and the viewers deserve to see how it all ends for them.”
Prior to that, Shayne, who played Eva’s former fiancé Aidan Connor on Coronation Street, confessed he’d not managed to catch up with his Catherine since she returned to the soap.
He didn’t address whether her soap role would impact their Channel 5 series, while he has fond memories from his time on Corrie. He told The Mirror: “I loved it. I haven’t spoken to Catherine much recently because I know how intense it is when you’re in the show, especially now that she’s in the Rovers.
“It’s a big responsibility. I loved being on the cobbles and playing Aidan. It was a great three years of my life and something I’ll always cherish.
