Cheryl Hines has broken silence on Chelsea Handler’s claims that she and husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr. sold the comedian a ‘toxic’ home.

The 60-year-old actress – who married the current U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services over a decade earlier – shared her response to the allegations that Handler made earlier this month.

The former talk show host bought the L.A. mansion in 2021 for $5.85 million, but claimed on her Dear Chelsea podcast that she had been unable to move in for five years for a number of reasons – including poor foundation.

However, the Curb Your Enthusiasm star shared she is ‘questioning the timing’ of Handler’s allegations in a snippet of her appearance in the upcoming episode of the Tomi Lahren podcast, obtained by People.

Hines said Handler ‘bought this house five years ago and she’s just now complaining about it, which is also, I don’t know that she’s getting a lot of sympathy from people.

‘She’s buying a $6 million house,’ she continued, before adding that claims the house was ‘toxic’ don’t ‘make sense.’

‘And talking about how she feels duped and that we tried to sell her a house that was, her word, “toxic,” which also doesn’t make sense,’ Hines added.

The star then explained that when Handler first purchased the residence, she had reached out to the comedian and also offered to help in any way if needed.

‘I did write her a personal note when she moved in, just saying how much we love the house,’ the actress said.

‘And I hope that she has a beautiful life in this house. And if you need anything, call me. And I left my number.’

Hines added, ‘So I don’t know. If we were trying to unload a toxic house on her, I wouldn’t have left my number.’

The Bad Moms star also claimed that Handler’s allegations years later were for ‘attention’ and to possibly ‘make fun of’ her husband RFK Jr.

Kennedy is currently the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services under the Trump administration and part of the MAHA (Make America Healthy Again) movement.

‘So, what are you going to do? She’s trying to get a laugh, I guess, and some likes,’ Hines expressed in the upcoming episode – which officially drops on Thursday, March 26 at 5p.m. ET.

Daily Mail has reached out to Handler’s reps for comment, but did not immediately hear back.

Handler had first purchased the house in October 2021 for $5.85 million – and she later explained that she did not know the previous owners had been Hines and RFK Jr.

During a recent episode of her Dear Chelsea podcast, the comedian said, ‘I bought RFK Jr.’s house in Los Angeles five years ago. I still have not lived in this house, that’s how f***ed up this house was.’

She alleged, ‘It was a disaster, and I didn’t know it going in because everything was, you know, under wraps.’

Handler claimed that renovations which she was told would happen were never done – which she discovered ‘in the last week of inspection.’

The TV personality also alleged that inspectors who surveyed the property told her, ‘This house is the most toxic environment. You cannot live here for at least two years.’

The author continued, ‘Now we have to remove his illegal bulls**t from my property and I’m like, how did they not find this upon the first inspection?’

Handler also recalled that Hines had ‘the audacity’ to leave her a note after purchasing the house.

‘Cheryl Hines left me a note saying, “Let us know if there’s anything we can do for you, Chelsea.” I’m like, yeah, how about a f***ing foundation. That’s something you could do for me.’

She also made a comment geared towards Hines’ husband during the podcast episode.

‘The idea that this guy is in charge of the health of our country when he didn’t even have a proper foundation at his house.’

Last week during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Handler gave an update on the situation with the mansion.

‘I didn’t know I was buying it from RFK Jr. because it was a blind trust and the house feels like I bought it from RFK Jr.,’ she told the late night talk show host.

The comedian added that it took her ‘four years to move in.’

'There were a lot of problems with the house - I blame him - that didn't get caught during inspection and a lot of drama with the house,' Handler claimed, referring to RFK Jr.; seen in 2025 in Washington D.C.

But Handler revealed that she finally was able to move into the residence last week – just one day before her guest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The star also said, ‘Cheryl Hines sent me a note saying, “Thank you. We’re so excited you bought our house. Let us know if there’s anything we can do.” And I was like, “Oh, no!”

‘I’m like, “I bought RFK Jr.’s [house]!” He’s like the one person in the world that I would flag whose house not to buy. They’ve done enough… all those losers.’
