The gold Patek Philippe is interesting to me because I had a Rolex Cellini that looks almost identical, but I bought it vintage a couple of years ago for about $5,000. I recently gave it to my niece thinking I could get another one for a similar price. I cannot. I have been very tempted to be a bad aunt and beg for it back because the best prices on similar vintage watches are at least double, usually almost triple, the price now that gold has gone up so much.ย

Anyway, I love that watch and think this is a cool post. Diana had good taste, and her choice of jewelry was top-notch, imo. She was trendy and fashionable while still wearing classic silhouettes and pieces that would stand the test of time. It seems to me that she really enjoyed fashion and viewed it as a way to express her personality in a family/social structure that seemed to demand/admire conformity rather than individuality. In my mind, her fashion choices were often an unspoken statement that said, “Okay, I’ll play your game, but it will still be on my own terms.”ย
