Prince Harry would reportedly like to bring wife Meghan Markle and kids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to the U.K. to visit King Charles this summer.

Though Harry last saw the King in September, it has been nearly four years since Charles has seen Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet in person.

The Duke of Sussex would apparently like to see the King at Sandringham, where Charles typically spends time in July before heading to Balmoral the next month.

According to a new report in The Times, Prince Harry would like to bring his wife Meghan Markle and their kids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to the U.K. this summer to see his father King Charles for the first time in four years.

Though the Duke of Sussex has seen his father since 2022, the last time that Archie and Lilibet were in the U.K. was for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in June 2022—nearly four years ago. The reason why they haven’t returned likely boils down to security, which Harry and Meghan lost when they stepped back as working royals in January 2020.

The Times reported that Harry is hopeful the King will invite his family to the Sandringham estate in Norfolk this summer for “family time.” The estate is also where Prince William and Kate Middleton’s beloved country home, Anmer Hall, is located, and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor—formerly known as Prince Andrew—moved to the estate last month after being evicted from his 30-room mansion on the Windsor estate, Royal Lodge.

Meghan, for her part, hasn’t visited the U.K. since September 2022, when she and Harry were present for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth. Harry has said repeatedly that he doesn’t feel safe bringing his family to the U.K. without police protection.

“If he was invited by the King, he would get a package of security that automatically kicks in,” a friend of Harry’s said. “He’d like an invite to Sandringham. Would he go? It would depend who was there. If the King was to say, ‘Come up and spend some time with the family,’ he’d love that.”

After Charles and Harry’s last in-person meeting in September 2025—roughly an hour long chat at Charles’s London home, Clarence House—a source close to Harry told The Times, “He always loves seeing his father and would love to see him as much as possible.” Their September meeting was the first time they’d seen one another face-to-face since February 2024, the same month Charles announced he had been diagnosed with cancer.

Harry will return to the U.K. for around a week in July for engagements marking one year to go until the Invictus Games take place in Birmingham. The Times reported that the Duke of Sussex will also support the WellChild charitable organization, of which he serves as patron, while he is in his home country. Sandringham is an interesting choice to name for a summer visit; while the royal family typically spends Christmas on that estate every year, they typically spend their summer holiday at Balmoral in Scotland, usually going from August to September. That said, as The Times pointed out, the King “often spends time at Sandringham in July.”

Meanwhile, a decision is expected soon on Harry’s security, which is currently under review. “There is not a world in which he brings the kids back unless there is an enhanced security package around them,” Harry’s friend said. “If the King wants to see the kids, all he needs to do is invite them over and it can happen.”

The friend added that “it is up to the King,” and said, “There are lots of scenarios to make it work, but it’s all out of Harry’s hands. No father would want to put their kids at any risk.”

As it currently stands, when Harry travels to the U.K. solo for engagements, he is accompanied by his own security team, which he funds privately. He receives publicly funded protection, however, when visiting for official events, like when he went to the U.K. for Charles’s coronation in May 2023.

“He’s not given up hope on bringing his family back to the U.K.,” a source previously told The Times. “He wants to be able to show his children where he grew up. He wants them to know their family here. He really would like to come back to the U.K. much more.”

Harry will also be back in the U.K. in July 2027 for the Invictus Games in Birmingham, and a source previously told The Sun, “Prince Harry desperately wants Charles at Invictus—and he wants him to open the Games alongside him. Harry wants it to happen both for the Games, and for their relationship. It’s his dream to have his father by his side.”
