Medics were called in to assist after a celebrity suffered a kitchen mishap during the latest episode of Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer.

The new series of Celebrity Bake Off kicked off this month, welcoming a fresh guest judge to the tent. Earlier this year, it was announced that pastry chef Cherish Finden would be taking on judging duties for this charity series in aid of Stand Up to Cancer.

The new judge is accompanied by Paul Hollywood and presenters Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding, with a fresh batch of celebrities donning their aprons and taking their places at their makeshift workstations.

Tonight’s episode (Sunday, March 29) featured JoJo Siwa joining the tent alongside Molly Mae Hague, Richard Herring and Babatunde Aléshé, as they were challenged with producing decorated traybakes and tarte tatin, while also recreating their childhood toys in biscuit form.

A strong opening round saw Molly Mae craft a carrot patch traybake, earning her a Hollywood handshake from an impressed Paul, while Babatunde also secured a handshake with his caramel traybake, reports Gloucestershire Live.

Richard produced an apple and pistachio traybake as JoJo, who initially appeared to be struggling, rallied with her rainbow confetti cake.

However, it was during the second round that medics were required to intervene following one star’s unfortunate kitchen accident.

The Celebrity Bake Off contestants were challenged with producing a tarte tatin, which needed to be flawlessly prepared with caramel, apples and puff pastry to achieve the ideal flavour and consistency.

While the puff pastry was baking, it was comedian and writer Richard Herring whose preparations were briefly interrupted after he seemingly injured himself while slicing his apples.

Audiences heard “ouch” before the camera switched to Richard, who verified he had indeed cut himself. Alison Hammond quipped: “It’s all going off, the medics are in”, as a medical professional was spotted attending to Richard’s wound.

Richard responded: “I spill blood to win bake off.”

Before long, Richard, with his finger bandaged in a plaster, returned to his baking as he and the other participants sought to wow the judges.

Following three demanding rounds, it was Molly Mae who claimed victory this evening as she declared: “I’m so high up in the sky right now I could cry.”

Paul Hollywood noted the former Love Island star triumphed for being the “most consistent” throughout the three challenges.

Celebrity Bake Off can be watched on Channel 4 online.
