considering how audiences have swung back to wanting new content and stories every day to watch, I’m surprised American soaps aren’t trying to cater towards younger audiences and tap into that market like the rest of the world has. They’re the perfect medium for screen addicts and drama lovers. But the few American soaps left insist on keeping the same aging casts and only appealing to old viewers. They’re impossible to jump into.
Would love for there to be a revival of the medium here. I love dailies from other countries. It’s an incredibly difficult format to pull off and it’s a shame American culture decided to just treat them like a joke and professional suicide instead of respecting how it’s essentially live theater and seeing its potential.
