Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming Lara Croft: Tomb Raider series has halted production after its star, Sophie Turner, was injured; it’s unclear whether the injury occurred on or off set. “Sophie Turner recently experienced a minor injury,” Amazon Prime Video shared in a statement with Vulture. “As a precaution, production has briefly paused to allow her time to recover. We look forward to resuming production as soon as possible.” There is currently no timeline for production to resume, but Deadline alleges the break is for two weeks and the crew is paid.
Created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the upcoming series stars Turner, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jason Isaacs, Bill Paterson, Sigourney Weaver, and more. Based on the video game series, Tomb Raider follows archaeologist Lara Croft as she searches for forgotten artifacts. “I’ve been a long-time fan of Tomb Raider and the character of Lara,” Turner said at the time of her casting in September. “They’re massive shoes to fill, following in the steps of Angelina and Alicia with their powerhouse performances, but with Phoebe at the helm, we (and Lara) are all in very safe hands.”
