Missed that critically acclaimed blockbuster in theaters? If you’re a cinephile like me, your goal is to see every movie when it comes out in theaters. If you’re a parent like me, you know that sometimes it’s just not possible to do that. Heck, I literally watch movies for my job, and even I can’t catch every movie when it comes out.
Here’s the good news, though: You don’t have to. Thanks to an array of streaming services, just about every movie eventually becomes available to stream at home. The question then becomes, which ones should you watch first?

Genre: Erotic psychological thriller
What’s it about? Millie (Sydney Sweeney) is hired by Nina Winchester (Amanda Seyfried) to be the live-in housemaid for her, her daughter Cece (Indiana Elle) and her husband Andrew (Brandon Sklenar). But turns out, everyone (but the child Cece) is harboring dark secrets that will make this job a living nightmare.
Why you need to watch it: I typically keep the top picks limited to movies we’ve reviewed, but my review of “The Housemaid” won’t come out until April 2, and I loved this movie too much to leave it off this list. This movie is twisted, shocking and an absolute blast. Sweeney and Sklenar are good, but the star is by far and away Seyfried, who absolutely kills it as the seemingly unhinged Winchester wife.

‘Crime 101’ (Prime Video)

Genre: Crime thriller
What’s it about? Mike (Chris Hemsworth) is one of the best criminals in Los Angeles. But when he starts feeling the heat from an LAPD detective (Mark Ruffalo) and a rival criminal (Barry Keoghan), he decides to pull off one last score.
Why you need to watch it: In my review of “Crime 101,” I declared it “Heat” Lite. It’s similar to Michael Mann’s 1995 crime thriller in so many ways, but that’s not a bad thing. “Heat” is an incredible movie, and this variation on its themes is still very, very good. It’s definitely a must-watch now that it’s included in your Prime Video subscription.

Genre: Supernatural horror
What’s it about? Set a year and a half after “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” this horror movie follows Abby Schmidt (Piper Rubio), who is being secretly manipulated by the Marionette, a haunted animatronic from the original Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.
Why you need to watch it: Whether or not you should watch this movie is a matter of debate. In his “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” review for Tom’s Guide, Josh Bell declared it a “mess of a film” that merely panders to fans of the video games. Still, sometimes it can be fun to watch a bad movie with friends. Just ask all those people who streamed “Madame Web.”

Genre: Supernatural horror
What’s it about? Evy (Nina Kiri) has moved back home to take care of her dying mother (Michèle Duquet). She also hosts a paranormal podcast with her friend Justin (Adam DiMarco), where she plays the skeptic and he plays the believer. But when they receive recordings of a married couple (Keana Lyn Bastidas and Jeff Yung) experiencing paranormal noises in their home, it leads them down a path that no one might survive.
Why you should watch it: In my review of “Undertone,” I was critical of this movie failing to live up to its billing as the “scariest movie you’ll ever hear.” But it was plenty scary, and the more I think about this movie, the more I wonder if I judged it too harshly. If you’re a horror fan, I’d recommend checking it out. If you can’t handle being terrified, then maybe sit this one out.

Genre: Sports biopic
What’s it about? “Christy” chronicles the rise of Christy Martin (Sydney Sweeney), a pioneering women’s boxer known as “The Coal Miner’s Daughter” thanks to her West Virginia roots. But her rise gets cut tragically short when an abusive relationship goes horribly wrong.
Why you should watch it: In my review of “Christy,” I declared it a “tonal rollercoaster.” The movie wavers between a standard, inspirational biopic and a horror movie about a deadly relationship. When it’s the former, the movie is at its weakest, and unfortunately, it’s the former all too often. Still, the climactic moment of the movie is pretty thrilling, even if I didn’t care for it overall.

Genre: Sports comedy-drama
What’s it about? Marty Hauser (Timothée Chalamet) is a New York boy who happens to be one of the world’s best table tennis players. But if he wants to be the greatest ever, he’ll need to overcome some major obstacles, including his own hubris.
Why you should watch it: My colleague Rory Mellon declared this his number one movie of the year in his top 10 movies of 2025, praising it for its pacing, clever dialogue and incredible soundtrack. I’ve seen the movie myself, and I’d have to agree with him that it’s definitely a great film. It wasn’t my top movie, but it did ultimately make my top 10 list for 2025.

Genre: Black comedy thriller
What’s it about? Yoo Man-su (Lee Byung-hun) is a paper industry expert, but he’s struggling to find work. So he decides to kill off his competition so he can ensure he’ll land the job and maintain his current standard of living.
Why you should watch it: TG’s own Martin Shore declared this movie, “one of 2025’s best comedy-thriller movies,” and was “livid” that the movie was overlooked by the Academy at the Oscars earlier this month. Seems that Neon, who distributed the film, was similarly miffed, as they released an ad campaign that, instead of saying “For your consideration,” said, “F your consideration.” If nothing else, watch this movie to reward that brilliant turn of phrase alone.
