During his recent appearance on “The Katie Miller Podcast” former NBA player Tristan Thompson was asked what’s something that he is really good at that has nothing to do with basketball or business, and the 2016 NBA champion said his elephant memory.
According to Thompson, his recollection of things is so sharp that he does not forget anything. When pressed to disclose his favorite memory, Thompson said it was his first meeting with his former girlfriend, Khloe Kardashian.
“My favorite memory would be, maybe, my blind date with Khloe. We met at the Bel-Air Hotel, blind date. I remember exactly what she had on. She had leave-in conditioner in her hair. She had one of those hats that we used to wear, one of those Smokey the Bear hats, a bodysuit, Good American jeans on. I remember exactly everyone that was there,” he added.
It was an ambush date, according to Khloe
Although Tristan called their first meeting a blind date, Khloe looked at it a little differently.
In an interview with E! News, the Good American brand founder said she did not want to be set up on a blind date. However, their common friend and former Milwaukee Bucks point guard, Brandon Jennings, insisted that she meet Tristan, whom he “ambushed” with an impromptu date.
“He’s (Jennings) a friend of mine and Malika [Haqq] ‘s, and he was like, ‘You’re such a good girl, I want to introduce you to someone,”recalled Khloe. “I was at the Bel-Air hotel. [Tristan] came to the dinner because I didn’t want to go on a blind date, so Brandon kind of ambushed the blind date. So, I had a bunch of people, and he brought him, and we just connected.”
Regardless of who was right about how their first date came about, the connection between the two led to a six-year on-and-off relationship that produced two children — True Thompson, born in 2018 and Tatum Thompson, born via surrogate in 2022. Even if the couple has separated, they are on good terms and have been co-parenting their children.

Khloe denied reconciliation rumors
In 2023, rumors surfaced that the couple was getting back together after Tristan and his brother, Amari, moved into Khloe’s house. However, it was later revealed that she accommodated the brothers because Thompson’s house was under renovation. Last winter, reconciliation talks hit the rumor mill once again, but Kardashian shut them down, saying they are only co-parenting their children.
“I think what I find so funny is that people are always like, ‘How do you let Tristan back in?'” Khloe said during the Nov. 19 episode of her “Khloe In Wonder Land” podcast. “And I’m like, ‘Well, Tristan is not back in.’ He’s just the father of my kids, so he’s going to be around his kids, and I’m really grateful that he is. I love that he has a great relationship with his kids. I think that’s a beautiful blessing, and I’m never going to get in the way of that. I think it’s so important for that relationship to maintain and be as strong as possible.”
Both Khloe and Tristan say they are currently single, and it’s not hard to imagine they would get back together because they have kids. He also gushed while talking about her during the interview. However, after Thompson cheated on Kardashian at least three times, including twice during the pregnancy of their kids, it’s hard to blame her for not being able to commit to him again.
