Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie aren’t attending royal Easter celebrations this year, and that’d be because Prince William (reportedly!) made sure they weren’t invited.

A source tells Rob Shuter that “This wasn’t optional. It was decided for them. William is tightening the circle. And this is what that looks like. He’s thinking about the future, not feelings. It’s about protecting the brand. There’s history there the palace can’t ignore. Even if no one wants to say it out loud.”

According to the insider, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie could find themselves banned from future royal guest lists. “These things don’t just happen once,” they explain. “Once you’re out, it’s easier to stay out. Charles may still be king, but William is making the decisions that matter. This wasn’t about Easter. It was about control.”

And yet another source says that while decisions like this aren’t made without King Charles, “William made it very clear what he wanted. He’s thinking like a CEO. Who’s on the stage matters. Who’s not—matters more. William controls the future of the royal family. Him, Catherine, and their three children — that’s the monarchy people show up for.”

Ultimately, William said that he, Kate Middleton, and their kids wouldn’t show up at Easter if Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice were there, making it a “them or us” situation.

“The message was simple,” the source says. “If certain people are there, we won’t be. You can’t have a royal event without William and his family. If they don’t show, the whole thing collapses.”
