It’s not the common cold or a disease recognised by any doctor, but a brand new, so-called ‘condition’ has entered the chat: Trump Derangement Syndrome.

This odd label, that is frequently ‘diagnosed’ on social media, has become Trump’s favorite way to hit back at those who vocally express how much they really don’t like him and his actions as President.

Several celebrities have criticised the US leader during his second term, with the 79-year-old having a direct response that each links back to what he calls ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’.

Also known as TDS is a tongue-in-cheek, politically charged term used to describe a critical reaction toward Donald Trump. It’s not a medical condition, recognized by doctors, or listed in any psychological manuals. Instead, it originated in political commentary as a way to suggest that critics of Trump sometimes respond emotionally rather than rationally.

Though Trump didn’t create the term himself, it’s not hard to see why he’s a fan of it. TDS can be traced back to conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer in 2010. He used it to describe people who, in his view, were so opposed to Donald Trump that their criticism became irrational or emotional rather than grounded in logic.

Trump and his supporters have been quick to point fingers, labeling a number of outspoken celebrities as experiencing TDS. Once again, TDS is not a real condition, but who are the people Trump accused of having it?

The most recent name is The Irishman actor who on March 28 spoke at a No Kings protest in New York.

“When the crowds are chanting ‘no Kings’ what I am really hearing, as we all know, is ‘no Trump’,” he said.

“There have been other presidents that have tested the constitutional limits of their power but none have been such an existential threat to our freedoms and security, none except Trump.

“He must be stopped and he must be stopped now.”

His remarks were his public criticisms about the POTUS, having long rebuked the TRUMP and his policies since his second term in office began.

Trump responded to the two-time Oscar winning actor’s latest comments and branded him ‘Trump Deranged Robert De Niro’, referring to the made-up condition.

De Niro has been asked directly about having the ‘syndrome’ and described it as ‘nonsense’.

“People don’t like him for a reason,” the acting legend told Fox News. “All the terrible things he’s done. If he did nice things, then he could have — he had the chance — he became president — to do nice things, not hateful, retribution, not just outright mean things.”

Rob Reiner

Trump was criticised for a ‘disgusting and shameful’ tribute to Rob Reiner and his wife Michele, who were tragically found dead at their Los Angeles home on December 14.

Reiner previously spoke out against Trump.

Trump’s tribute on Truth Social read: “A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood.

His statement on Reiner’s death continued to slam the When Harry Met Sally director, saying: “He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before.”

Trump doubled down in his criticism that same month, telling reporters that the director was ‘very bad for our country’.

Jimmy Kimmel

The late-night talk show host was taken off the air following remarks he made in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s death.

The talk show veteran soon found himself on the receiving end of harsh comments from Trump, who used social media to celebrate.

“Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done,” he wrote. “Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible.

“That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!! President DJT.”

Kimmel was off the air ‘indefinitely’, but ABC reversed its decision six days later.

Trump’s critiques didn’t stop there as the President had a phone-in conversation on Fox News’ The Five in March. During the call he criticized Kimmel again, calling him ‘talentless’, among other things.

“He’s got Trump Derangement syndrome,” Trump declared. “I mean, whatever I watch, I just can’t believe that he’s even on the air. He shouldn’t be on the air. You know, in the old days when you didn’t have good ratings, or you didn’t have any ratings, practically, you get fired. He should be canned.”

Bruce Springsteen

Does Trump have beef with the Born in the U.S.A. singer?

Well, he’s definitely not a fan as of this month after Trump denounced Bruce Springsteen, who hasn’t held back from criticising the US leader.

Springsteen has openly criticized Trump and his administration during concerts and in January 2026, he released a new protest track called ‘Streets of Minneapolis’. It condemns elements of the Trump administration’s immigration policies and was released in response to the killings of Alex Pretti and Renée Good, who were shot and killed by U.S. federal immigration agents during a spike in immigration enforcement in the city.

Speaking on Truth Social on Thursday, not long after his primetime address to the nation regarding the war with Iran, Trump lambasted Springsteen’s appearance and claimed he suffers from the made up illness TDS.

“Bad, and very boring singer, Bruce Springsteen, who looks like a dried up prune who has suffered greatly from the work of a really bad plastic surgeon, has long had a horrible and incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, sometimes referred to as TDS.

The guy is a total loser who spews hate against a President who won a Landslide Election, including the popular vote, all Seven Swing States, and 86% of the Counties across America.

Trump also called on ‘MAGA’ to ‘boycott’ Springsteen. He continued: “Under Sleepy Joe and the Dems, our Country was DEAD, and now we have the “hottest” Country, by far, anywhere in the World.

“MAGA SHOULD BOYCOTT HIS OVERPRICED CONCERTS, WHICH SUCK. SAVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. AMERICA IS BACK!!! President DJT.”

Elon Musk

There was a time when Trump and Elon Musk seemed inseparable, but last year their friendship soured, leading to both men throwing jabs at each other on social media.

In a social media post, Trump responded to the Tesla CEO’s criticism of his ‘big beautiful’ spending package. Musk had called it a ‘pork-filled Congressional spending bill’ and a ‘disgusting abomination’, with the savage comments coming shortly after Musk exited the administration as a special employee leading DOGE.

When speaking to reporters in the Oval Office last July, Trump expressed his shock after hearing Musk’s critiques. “Elon and I have a great relationship,” he said. “I don’t know if we will anymore. I was surprised, because… we had a wonderful sendoff. He said wonderful things about me.”

He continued: “I’m very disappointed because Elon knew the inner workings of this bill. He never had a problem until right after he left.”

Trump said that some people who leave his administration ‘at some point they miss it so badly’ and ‘some of them actually get hostile. I don’t know what it is, it’s kind of Trump derangement syndrome,I guess they call it,’ he said.

He added: “They wake up in the morning, the glamor’s gone, the whole world feels different, and then they start acting hostile.”

Trump, talking about Musk’s role as Tesla CEO, also said: “Elon’s upset because we took away the EV mandate, which was a lot of money for electric vehicles. They’re struggling with the electric vehicles, and they want us to pay billions in subsidies. Elon knew that from the start.”

Several months later in January, Trump, Melania Trump, and Musk enjoyed a ‘lovely dinner’ together at Mar-a-Lago, suggesting that the two buddies are pals again after their public spat.

Rosie O’Donnell

The comedian and actress has never held back how she feels about Trump.

Often dubbed a ‘feud’, it all began in 2006 when O’Donnell, then a co-host on The View, mocked Trump for how he handled the Miss USA pageant. This sparked a back-and-forth that has lasted for almost two decades, with Trump lambasting O’Donnell numerous times, while the actress has remained a vocal critic of Trump, even after moving to Ireland.

The White House has previously responded to O’Donnell’s criticisms on Trump’s behalf, telling Fox News: “Rosie O’Donnell clearly suffers from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, and it’s better for the entire country that she decided to move away.”
