Jack Black has heard the Jack Gray nickname combining himself and occasional collaborator Jack White, and he is not impressed.

“[It] makes sense, because if you combine black and white, it’s gray,” he said to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show. “But I’m not crazy about that, because gray is — it’s kind of got a negative connotation. It’s like, ‘It’s a gray area.’ You don’t really know what it is. I’d rather it was like Jack Silver or something, like Jack Zebra, Jack Stripes.”

Fallon being Fallon, he complimented Black in the language of the almighty dollar, highlighting the original Mario movie crossing the $1 billion mark at the box office, as well as the chart performance of Black’s single as Bowser, “Peaches.”

Black being Black, he brought enough personality for two, promoting the bonkers new Super Mario Galaxy movie by busting out a capella snippets of “Peaches.” He then turned a rant about the single not receiving an Oscar “nomin-ash” into a revenge song — from Bowser’s perspective — aimed at Ryan Gosling. “I can’t believe I wasn’t nominated,” he booms, “Bowser shall have his revenge.”

Jack Zebra will be on Saturday Night Live this weekend, with Black hosting and White performing. Check out Black’s interview with Fallon and the SNL promo below.
