The subject came up after Joel was addressing body image issues in Hollywood and amongst gay men. “I would say I feel more pressure from being gay than I do from being an actor for sure,” he said. “Absolutely. 100%. I think the standards are slightly different. Listen, yes, Fire Island and Industry happened, but Nicholas and Dr. Park, I’m wearing clothes and the face card never declines. Joel went on to say that the issue of body image takes on different shades when it’s with other partners who aren’t his husband. “My husband loves me for a lot of reasons other than besides what I look like, and that’s great,” he explained. “But when I am hooking up with a rando, it is probably going to be mostly about what I look like.
