JD Chakravarthy, who once ruled the screen with films like Shiva, Satya, and Gulabi, has been going through a relatively lean phase in his second innings. But it looks like he’s gearing up for a strong comeback with Tharun Bhascker’s upcoming entertainer Gaayapadda Simham, presented by Pavan Sadineni and produced by Saptaswa Media Works, POV Stories, and Zee Studios.
The makers have unveiled a glimpse introducing JD as Brutal Dharma, a stylish yet merciless gangster who runs an illegal empire involving arms, narcotics, and covert logistics under the banner of Satya Logistics.
JD brings a fierce swagger to the role, sporting bold patterned shirts, a gold lion-head medallion, and sunglasses. His defiant smoking style and effortless intensity highlight the versatility that made him a cult favorite. The retro-inspired character design stands out, and the final punch in the glimpse delivers a fun kick even amid a serious setup.
It’s evident that every character in the film holds weight. By keeping JD’s role under wraps until now, the team has made the reveal even more impactful. Director Kasyap Sreenivas wins brownie points for tapping into the vintage JD energy audiences have long missed.
Gaayapadda Simham is gearing up for a summer release on May 1st.
