Now boarding…iconic celebrity couple of the 2000s.
Jessica Simpson and ex-husband Nick Lachey jetted off to Hawaii on the same flight—and things reportedly got “awkward.”
According to TMZ, the former couple flew from Los Angeles to Kauai, Hawaii, aboard the same aircraft on Sunday, March 29. Both Simpson, 45, Lachey, 52 — who were married from 2002 to 2006 — were seated in first class.
“We’re told the exes went out of their way to avoid each other the entire time,” the outlet reported on Monday, April 6.
The Love Is Blind host was reportedly visibly uncomfortable and “turned bright red” when he realized the awkward encounter. Simpson even switched seats to avoid interacting with her ex, a source told TMZ.

Lachey and wife Vanessa Lachey, who was also on the flight, lived in Kahala, Oahu, for three years while she was filming her hit NBC series, NCIS: Hawai’i. While they relocated back to California in 2024, Vanessa, 45, shared a snap from the island on April 1.
For her part, the “With You” artist shares three kids, son Ace, 12, and daughters Maxwell, 13, and Birdie, 7, with ex-husband Eric Johnson.
Johnson, 46, was reportedly also on the flight, but was seated in coach.
