The newspaper said the woman was not a contestant or professional dancer on the show, but had met the man due to his participation in the competition.

It is understood the development was not related to the most recent series of Strictly.

The BBC dance competition, which airs from September to December, is filmed at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.

In a statement on Tuesday, Hertfordshire Police said: “There will be no criminal charges brought against an individual arrested by Hertfordshire Constabulary in London on Monday 13 October 2025 on suspicion of rape.

“The man, who had his bail extended on Tuesday 6 January until today, Tuesday 7 April 2026, to allow further enquiries to take place, will face no further action.

“Early advice was sought from the Crown Prosecution Service, but detectives determined that there was insufficient evidence to bring forward criminal charges.”

The unnamed star’s arrest last October came after another man involved with the hit BBC dance show was also arrested on suspicion of rape two months earlier, in August.

The Metropolitan Police said at the time the man was also suspected of “non-consensual intimate image abuse”.

It is not known what role that individual had in the programme.
