Brian Cox appears to not be a fan of several Hollywood A-list actors, including Johnny Depp and Edward Norton.

Speaking in a new interview with The Times, the Succession star took the moment to criticize a number of his former co-stars as well as other big named actors.

Cox revealed that he declined to play the governor in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise because he didn’t want to work with Depp, whom he called “so overblown, so overrated.”

Cox had some choice words for Norton after the pair starred in 25th Hour together, calling his co-star a “pain in the arse” and describing Ian McKellen’s acting as “not to my taste.”

Margot Robbie also caught a stray when Cox discussed Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights, a film he admitted to not having seen due to the casting. “Margot Robbie is far too beautiful for that role. I mean, I think there should be something more of the Gypsy about her, but it’s wrong of me to judge. It may be a brilliant film.”

Cox told the publication that he freely shares his opinions because he’s too old to care what others think about him.

“Well, I don’t know yet if it’s caused me problems,” he said. “I mean, my wife [Nicole Ansari-Cox] keeps saying, ‘Brian, be careful. Brian, be careful.’ I think, ‘ f**k it, I don’t want to be careful anymore! I’ll be 80 this year. f**k it! I’m gonna say what I want to say.'”

Cox fired additional shots at Quentin Tarantino, calling him “meretricious.” He also compared his and Tarantino’s directing skills, calling himself “more egalitarian than a lot of directors, the kind who call themselves visionaries.” His feature directorial debut, Glenrothan, arrived last year.

Cox added: “I like to honor the actor’s performance. With a Quentin Tarantino film, what you see is all Quentin Tarantino. That’s not me. I don’t want to do that.”
