The Gist
Beyoncé and Jay-Z own the most expensive celebrity home, a Malibu mansion they purchased for $200 million in 2023.
Other celebs with unique residences include Robert Downey Jr., Cher, and Miley Cyrus.
As for historic mansions that made a mark, look no further than Jayne Mansfield’s Pink Palace.
A-lister’s homes are known to be extraordinary.
From massive compounds to unique pads and charming countryside estates, the residences of the rich and famous are just as varied as their celebrity owners. Taylor Swift’s iconic Rhode Island estate, colloquially known as ‘Holiday House,’ boasts a private beach, eight fireplaces, and a DIY volleyball court. Robert Downey Jr.’s fairytale windmill home in the Hamptons is one of the most singular-looking properties in the U.S., and features a 50-foot pool, a tennis court, and extensive gardens, per Architectural Digest.
The homes’ seven- to nine-figure price tags are almost as eye-popping as their amenities. Billionaire power couple Beyoncé and Jay-Z reportedly have the most expensive celebrity pad: a $200 million Malibu mansion that’s an astounding 30,000 square feet.
What makes a residence truly mesmerizing isn’t just its price or size, but how it’s decorated. Kendall Jenner’s ultra-cozy mountain retreat (in a top-secret location, per People) had fans swooning over its kitchen fireplace and the uncommon adult bunk bed room. Design devotees similarly haven’t been able to get over the old-world aesthetic of Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott’s maximalist Manhattan pied-à-terre.
Ahead, find out more about some of the most jaw-dropping celebrity mansions of all time, from lavish compounds to tastefully outfitted homes.
