EXCLUSIVE: Linda Cardellini (DTF St. Louis) has closed a deal to join Bill Hader in They Know, the horror film for MRC, marking his feature directorial debut.

Kicking off production in Los Angeles today, They Know centers on a divorced dad (Hader) who grows suspicious that his ex-wife (Cardellini) is secretly dating a mysterious man who is having a strange influence on their children.

MRC is the studio financing the project, which is based on a script from Hader, stemming from an original story he created with his Barry collaborator Duffy Boudreau. Bob Graf and Hader are set to produce under the latter’s Hanarply banner, with Alyssa Donovan co-producing.

An Emmy, SAG Awad and Spirit Award-nominated actress, Cardellini is known for her work in projects like Dead to Me, No Good Deed, Green Book, and Bloodline, among many others. Currently, she can be seen starring alongside Jason Bateman and David Harbour in DTF St. Louis, an HBO dark comedy from creator Steven Conrad. Upcoming, she has the Apple/Skydance film Way of the Warrior Kid, where she stars opposite Chris Pratt, as well as A24’s Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake for Peacock, where she plays movie monster Jason Vorhees’ mother, Pamela. She is repped by CAA and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
