Kanye West – legally known as Ye – is being sued by an unidentified man for an alleged assault. The supposed altercation happened in April 2024 at Chateau Marmont, a celebrity hotspot hotel in Beverly Hills.

According to details obtained by TMZ, Kanye is being sued for battery and infliction of emotional distress. This stems from an alleged assault that happened two years ago at LA’s Chateau Marmont.
In the lawsuit, the claimant – who is seeking an unspecified amount of damages – accused the controversial rapper of punching him at the iconic hotel. The man said the alleged punch “knocked him to the ground,” where he “hit his head and lost consciousness.” He added that Kanye then “repeatedly punched him as he lay unconscious on the ground.”
Elsewhere in the filing, the unidentified man said Kanye had falsely accused him of engaging in offensive and inappropriate conduct towards a woman in his entourage. “[Kanye] repeated and embellished these lies during a widely viewed podcast appearance, exposing plaintiff to public scorn, suspicion and ridicule,” the lawsuit states.
So far, Kanye has not responded to TMZ’s request for comment. But his PR team is probably pretty busy. News of the lawsuit comes just days after a festival he was due to headline was called off.
To recap, London’s Wireless Festival recently announced that Kanye would perform at the event in July. While some fans were excited by the news, there was also a lot of backlash. This was due to the rapper’s repeated controversial behaviour.
The decision to book Kanye as a festival headliner even caught the attention of the British Prime Minister … which is perhaps why he was ultimately denied entry to the UK.
