The highly anticipated Olivier Awards 2026, the UK’s answer to the Tony Awards that took place on April 12 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, was a star-studded affair.

Snow White star Rachel Zegler won best actress in a musical for Jamie Lloyd’s Evita. Jack Holden took home the best actor award for Kenrex, beating Tom Hiddleston, Sean Hayes, David Shields and Bryan Cranston.

Cranston is known for playing Walter White in the crime drama Breaking Bad (2008-2013) and lovable dad Hal in the 2000s teen sitcom Malcolm in the Middle. The latter has a new reboot titled Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, which premiered on Hulu and Disney+ on April 10.

For the reboot, Cranston reprises his role and reunites with his on-screen son Frankie Muniz, who plays the titular character, as well as Jane Kaczmarek, who plays Malcolm’s mum Lois.

While promoting the reboot earlier this month with Muniz in an episode of the YouTube series Hot Ones Versus, which features celebrities answering difficult questions and partaking in hot sauce eating challenges, Cranston went viral for defending his wife on Breaking Bad, Skyler (Anna Gunn).

Muniz declared he “wanted to kill” the character, and in response, Cranston shot back: “Her husband leaves without any explanation, she’s pregnant, he’s making crystal methamphetamine, and people have died – and she’s the b****?”

In real life, Cranston has been married to actress Robin Dearden since 1989. The couple was all smiles at the Olivier Awards, though they were not accompanied by their daughter, Taylor Dearden, who plays Dr Melissa “Mel” King in the Emmy-winning medical drama The Pitt.
