Harry Redknapp says what really happened when he axed ‘Stewart’ from I’m A Celeb

I’m A Celebrity’s Harry Redknapp has revealed exactly how he was left red-faced when he not only booted Seann Walsh off the show – but he also got his name wrong and called him ‘Stewart’. Now he fears that the stand-up comedian will hate him.
TV viewers previously saw former football manager Harry and ex-soccer star Jimmy Bullard face a nasty Bushtucker Trial as ‘jungle kings’, and when Harry lost he was told by Ant and Dec he had to evict the first celeb himself.
Harry was ruling Team Lion whose members include boxer David Haye, Olympic runner Sir Mo Farah, Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts, comic Seann Walsh and Gogglebox’s Scarlett Moffatt.

Harry has now revealed how he struggled to choose which celebrity he sent home and even offered to leave HIMSELF. When he finally made up his mind, it ended in a huge embarrassing gaffe.
Speaking at an event on stage, Harry said: “So there was a comedian in there called Seann Walsh. Nice guy. So the day before, we were chatting away and he’s only just arrived. So Sean’s there and he is a QPR fan and he says ‘The show is great for my profile and I am really looking to do well’. l said ‘That’s great Seann’.
“But we lost the trial and as a forfeit I’ve got to go back into camp with Ant and Dec and send one of them home. Now we have only been there two days. So I think ‘No please, I don’t wanna do that. I’ll go home’ and they said ‘No you can’t do that. You’re the king. You’ve gotta vote out one of your subjects and send them home. That is the rule.’
“So I get into camp and I feel terrible and by the time I get there I have got to tell them who I am sending home. So I’m not gonna send David Haye home. He might knock me out.
“And I am getting on great with Mo Farah and the girl on the next bed to me was Ashley Roberts. A Pussycat Doll. I’m not sending her home! She teaches me how to do yoga at 7 o’clock in the morning.
“So Poor Seann. I am gonna send him home. By the time I get back to camp my head is full of stuff and I was dreading this. I am sending that poor bloke home and he’s telling me how much he wants to be here.
“I get into camp. And by the time I get there they are all stood in front of me and I’ve got to tell them which one’s going home. So I’m stood there. I am the king and I have got a silly crown on…. And I forgot his name. It has gone completely blank out of my mind. I am looking over at the blackboard with the jungle jobs on it in chalk.. but someone has scrubbed it all out. I’ve told them (Ant and Dec) who is going home so I can’t change it.
“I am dithering and I said ‘I’m sorry Stewart. I am going to have to send you home’. Afterwards they all said ‘Harry, his name is Seann’. He will hate me.”
Viewers squirmed at home as they watched the scene unfold. Harry appeared to be stalling for time when speaking to the group, but eventually said: “So, er, I’ve come down in the end Stewart, I’ve had to make a decision and I’ve chose you.”
Seann knew he meant him because he was looking at him but appeared stunned and replied: “Oh fair enough, yeah, that’s absolutely fair enough.”
Harry could later be heard calling him by his correct name Seann having realised the mistake and even said “sorry Seann”. David Haye tried to make Harry feel better as he left and said: “I always thought it was Shane Walsh.” Harry replied: “I thought it was Stewart didn’t I? Did you hear that, my mind went blank. I lost the plot.”
But Ant and Dec rubbed in the mistake, joking afterwards that Seann was locked out of his hotel room following his eviction as it was “booked under the name Stewart Walsh by Harry”. Harry admits he knew that Jimmy would defeat him in the trial because the former midfielder had boasted about his drinking skills.
He told fans at one of his An Audience With Harry Redknapp shows recently: “There was a competition so the two captains, me and Jimmy, have got to sit out in the sun in 100 degrees and we’ve got to do this trial eating this food. We’re eating big plates of it. All kinds of horrible things, you know, for me to do and we both do it and then it’s all square still.
“So they are all sitting there, the two teams, so it’s a play-off. We have to drink a pint of this horrible green stuff and while we are sitting there Jimmy says ‘Harry, I hold the record at my dad’s pub for drinking a pint of beer in under whatever time’. Now the winning team goes on a safari.
“The losing team goes back to camp with no food that night. So Jimmy just swigs it down and I’ve got to go back to the camp as we’ve lost!”
