This has been the case for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who have carried out a number of engagements during this week’s visit, including visiting a children’s hospital. And despite the mixed opinions from the public on how they think the tour went, I think Harry and Meghan’s trip to Australia so far has shown one thing.

And surprisingly, it is something the royals could take note of.

While Harry and Meghan are some of the least popular royals, the tour gave them probably exactly what they hoped for – publicity.

And that is exactly what they are reliant on these days, especially as they need their Sussex brand image to make a living to fund their lavish Montecito lifestyle.

So, what can the rest of the Royal Family learn from this? Well, I think it shows one thing – royal tours distract.

Think about it, Harry and Meghan’s Australia trip has dominated royal news and suddenly the spotlight has, for the first time in months, not been shining strongly on Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who was arrested and released under investigation in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

With Harry and Meghan on front pages again, the world seems to have almost temporarily stopped thinking about the Andrew drama. Again, it shows just how royal tours distract from other royal news.

As a royal expert, I think this could show the Royal Family one thing they need to do more, and that is to do these royal tours.

Because it will make headlines, secure front pages and remind us what the Royal Family are really about. Service, community and good deeds.

With King Charles and Queen Camilla set to soon jet off to the US on a royal tour, their trip should show that such tours are a great way to return focus to the heart of the monarchy, rather than the scandals that may be surrounding it.

And this is exactly what the Royal Family needs right now.
