My opinion on “Trouble”, the song Liv Morgan debuted before WrestleMania 42 with a full music video, and entered to at Night One of that show tonight (April 18) in Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium? The song is actually offensively bad.
But my respect for Morgan only grew with her entrance for WrestleMania Saturday’s WWE Women’s title match against champion Stephanie Vaquer. She sells the heck of the song, so much so that I can forget how much it makes my ears hurt for a few second. That’s amazing enough, but to do a full choreographed dance number before a freaking ‘Mania title match? And with her face still recovering from the inadvertent backstage head trauma she suffered a few weeks back on Raw? That’s legendary stuff, in my book.
Vaquer looked great too, and seemed a little stirred by working her first WrestleMania — and as a champion, no less.
A feud that got very personal (and as evidenced by Morgan’s facial bruising, very snug) led to match that quickly led to a brawl on the outside. From there, the champion controlled action for a stretch. La Primera shut down a comeback with the challenger’s own finisher…
But Morgan doesn’t roll alone, and The Judgment Day inevitably got involved. And Roxanne Perez’s distraction allowed Raquel Rodriguez to get involved, leading to Oblivion for its owner… but Vaquer kicked out! But when the champ leapt to take Perez and Rodriguez out of the equation, she returned to find Liv ready. The Oblivion that ended that sequence was not kicked out of, and Morgan is now a three-time WWE Women’s champion.
Dominik Mysterio came out to celebrate with his ride-or-die and the her besties.
WrestleMania 42 streams all weekend on ESPN in the U.S., and internationally on Netflix. We’ve got the best play-by-play on the wrestle web for WrestleMania 42 Saturday in Claire’s live blog here.
