Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden celebrated a major milestone this Sunday, 19 April 2026, as their eldest son, Prince Alexander, turned 10. To mark the occasion, the couple shared a new portrait of the young prince, who bears a striking resemblance to his mother. Alexander is the eldest of four siblings, followed by Gabriel, eight, Julian, five, and Princess Ines, one.
Although Alexander holds the title of Duke of Södermanland and sits fifth in the line of succession, he is not styled as a Royal Highness. Following his grandfather’s 2019 decision to streamline the monarchy, Alexander and his siblings do not hold official institutional roles, allowing them more personal freedom as they grow up.
