Netflix kept the tradition going, announcing the premiere date for the Heartstopper finale film on the fourth anniversary of the series premiere on Netflix. Heartstopper Forever, which wraps Nick (Kit Connor) and Charlie (Joe Locke)’s story, will debut on July 17.
The streamer also released a behind-the-scenes image of the cast from the movie, written by series creator Alice Oseman and directed by Wash Westmoreland, as well as a video showing the cast together throughout the seasons, which you can watch below.
A July release date had been expected. Oseman – who writes and illustrates the graphic novels on which the YA series was based – said in March that Heartstopper Forever would not come out before the final book, Volume 6, is published on July 2.
The finale premiere date comes exactly a year after Netflix announced the movie on the third anniversary of the series’ launch.
Connor, Locke, William Gao, Yasmin Finney, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Tobie Donovan, Jenny Walser, Rhea Norwood and Leila Khan star, reprising their roles from the series. Connor and Locke also executive produce alongside Patrick Walters, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Oseman and Euros Lyn. See-Saw Films is the production company.
With university looming at the end of Season 3, Charlie and Nick face the possibility of being long distance or apart for longer periods of time as they discover who they are without the other. Nick helped Charlie through his struggles with OCD and an eating disorder in Season 3 before he went to tour colleges with their gal pals.
