Prince Harry threw down the gauntlet to the royal family on Friday, declaring from a war zone that he is still, in effect, a working royal, and effectively daring King Charles to do something about it.

Speaking to ITV News at the end of a two-day visit to Ukraine, the Duke of Sussex said he will “always be part of the Royal Family,” adding: “I am here working doing the things that I was born to do. And I enjoy doing it.”

The remarks amount to a direct repudiation of the settlement imposed at the Sandringham Summit in January 2020, when Queen Elizabeth II made it brutally clear that a “half-in, half-out” arrangement was not on offer.
