I WASN’T GOING TO LET HER BREATH ππ
During the reshoots of X-Men 2 in 2003, a prominent producer harassed Halle Berry sexually. Fox buried it after she reported it. Hugh Jackman, who had grown close to her, was informed. Hugh lost it. Using his own funds and loans totaling $18 million, he made contact with investors, planned a hostile takeover of the production firm (not Fox, but the smaller studio producing), and purchased 51% of the controlling shares. The producer was subsequently directly sacked by him. Halle was unaware until she received a call informing her that the producer was “no longer with the company.” Why, she questioned? Years later, Hugh eventually informed her, “I wasn’t going to let him breathe the same air as you.” She cried. He had put himself in danger of bankruptcy to keep her safe. “That’s not friendship,” she declared. “That’s family.”
