Uploaded by promoter and record label My Pet Flamingo last Tuesday, April 22, Nobody Here: The Story Of Vaporwave is a feature-length film tracing the genre’s rise from niche internet subculture to a widely recognised micro-genre. The near-two hour documentary examines vaporwave’s defining traits, including its reliance on sampling, nostalgia and DIY digital aesthetics.

The film features contributions from more than 50 figures across the scene, including artists such as Oneohtrix Point Never, George Clanton and Saint Pepsi, alongside writers, label owners and fans. It positions the genre as both a musical movement and an online community that reimagined electronic music through internet culture.

Five years in the making, Nobody Here: The Story Of Vaporwave charts vaporwave’s trajectory from obscure online communities to mainstream recognition, documenting its cultural impact through the voices of those who shaped it.
