Winter is the perfect time to slow down, stay cozy, and enjoy something new—and Prince William Public Libraries’ Winter Reading program is a great place to start. Winter Reading makes it easy to start a new hobby, try a new book genre, or enjoy everything the library has to offer.

Sign up for Winter Reading through Jan. 31 by picking up a bookmark at any PWPL location or by tracking your progress on the Beanstack Tracker app. Complete 10 activities or read 10 books before Jan. 31 to earn a prize and be entered into a drawing. Adults | Wednesday, Jan. 7, 5:30 p.m.

Celebrate the winter season by crafting a macramé gnome. No previous experience needed. All supplies provided. First come, first served until capacity is reached.

Grades 6 to 12 | Thursday, Jan. 8, 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The library will open one night a month just for tweens and teens! In January, come make a candle and sip hot cocoa for a relaxed gathering. Registration required.

Grades 6 to 12 | Jan. 12 to 16

No sewing skills are necessary to make this decorative little hat. It’s easy to do with a template and simple knots.

Ages 8 to 12 | Tuesday, Jan. 27, 5 .m.

Meet local author Margie Hamner as she reads a chapter from her new children’s book, “Magic Ball of Light: Winter Holiday,” then create a mini ball of light.

As a special bonus, Level Up participants who complete Winter Reading by Jan. 31 will receive a limited-edition lapel pin while supplies last.
