A Bug’s Life (1998) was Pixar’s second feature animated film after Toy Story. It’s loosely based on Aesop’s fable The Ant and the Grasshopper. It follows Flik who searches for warriors to protect his ant colony from grasshoppers but accidentally hires circus bugs.

The movie inspired Disney’s Animal Kingdom show “It’s Tough to Be a Bug!” which closed permanently in 2025.
