In the summer of 2006, “The Devil Wears Prada” was, for a large subset of American women and gay men, the cinematic event of the season. Based on Lauren Weisberger’s runaway bestseller of the same name, the movie had a banger cast: Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs, a new junior assistant at fictional fashion magazine Runway; Emily Blunt as the tart senior assistant; Stanley Tucci as the cranky fashion director. And in the role of editor in chief Miranda Priestly, boss from hell: Meryl Streep wreaking workplace terror with an icy, soft-spoken delivery and her signature dismissal, “That’s all.”
