It’s a foregone conclusion that “The Devil Wears Prada 2” will debut this weekend at No. 1 at the box-office — but we hear there’s real-life drama behind the scenes at the Met Gala centering on Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez hosting the high-end event.

Anna Wintour‘s annual gala on Monday is being financed by the Amazon billionaire and his wife, and they’ve been named as lead donors and honorary co-chairs.

But like a discarded plotline from the “Devil Wears Prada 2” — in which a gauche tech billionaire and his wife topline the fashion world’s biggest night — some top socialites and Met Gala fixtures are skipping the ball this year.

We hear that Lauren Santo Domingo — arguably the world’s No. 1 socialite and an entrepreneur behind fashion retailer Moda Operandi — will not attend the gala, according to sources.

“That’s like Tom Brady skipping the Super Bowl,” quipped an insider.

We also hear that a number of top designers won’t be there, including Nicolas Ghesquière of Louis Vuitton and JW Anderson’s Jonathan Anderson.

The Daily Mail reported this week that Meryl Streep — who appears on the May 2026 Vogue cover and plays the Wintour-inspired character Miranda Priestly — was rumored to have turned down a co-hosting role at the Met Gala because of Bezos and Sanchez’s involvement.

A rep for Streep exclusively told Page Six Hollywood: “Meryl has been invited to the Met Gala for many years but has never attended. While she appreciates Vogue, Anna, and her incredible imagination and stamina — it has never quite been her scene.”

Streep’s daughters, Grace and Mamie Gummer, are attending, as are “Devil Wears Prada 2” stars Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, sources say.

The Times of London also reported this week on fashion backlash against Bezos and Sanchez hosting the event. On the other side of the spectrum, a guerrilla activist group has been protesting the Bezos-sponsored event with posters around NYC saying “Boycott the Bezos Met Gala.”

Sources said that Bezos’ association with the Trump administration was also a turn-off to liberal fashionistas. (Most recently, reports said that Amazon MGM discussed a reboot of “The Apprentice” with Donald Trump Jr.)

A source told P6H: “There’s going to be more friends of Jeff there than usual. Like people who wouldn’t normally go, like finance people.” We also hear that the guest list is heavier on LA power players than in the past.

Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Wintour are on the Met Gala host committee, and guests expected at the fundraiser for the Met’s Costume Institute include Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, model Heidi Klum, “Michael” actress Laura Harrier, Patrick Schwarzenegger and influencer Emma Chamberlain, Page Six reported.

Then again, Santo Domingo was reportedly a guest at Bezos and Sanchez’s wedding in Venice, Italy, last year, along with society names like François-Henri Pinault, Edward Enninful, Jennifer Meyer, Kelly Sawyer Patricof and Queen Rania of Jordan, plus celebs and big names including Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Sydney Sweeney, Scooter Braun, Orlando Bloom, Sam Altman, Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, Ari Emanuel, Tom Brady, Barry Diller and DVF, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, Brian Grazer and many more.

Even with the Bezos controversy at the real Met Gala, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” is tracking to be a major hit, with Disney reportedly expecting to bring in between $70 million and $75 million domestically with an additional $100 million from foreign territories.

The original “Devil Wears Prada” raked in $326.5 million two decades ago. The updated version — with Streep, Anne Hathaway, Blunt and Tucci returning — follows fearsome editor Miranda Priestly as she weathers a downturn in media and is forced to sit in (gasp!) coach on her way to Milan Fashion Week.

This year’s Met Gala theme is “Costume Art,” with a dress code of “Fashion is Art.” (A fictional version of the gala is featured in “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” according to reviews of the film, in which Streep’s character must smile through some controversy surrounding the fictional magazine Runway. And the film even features a Bezos-like character played by Justin Theroux.)

Reps for Vogue, Bezos, Santo Domingo and Griffin didn’t comment.
