Princess Charlotte has been capturing hearts with her presence at Royal occasions since infancy. The Prince and Princess of Wales’ daughter marks her 11th birthday today (2nd May), and admirers of the Royal Family frequently catch glimpses of the couple’s only daughter and middle child at engagements alongside her parents and siblings, 12-year-old Prince George and eight-year-old Prince Louis.

While Charlotte may be among the youngest royals, her fashion sense has started to develop as she takes after her mother’s elegant style. During recent public outings such as Easter, royal observers have noticed how much the young princess resembles both her mum, Princess Kate, and her dad, Prince William.

However, there are two additional members of the royal family to whom young Charlotte bears a remarkable likeness. Intriguingly, while both these royals share a bloodline with Charlotte, they’re not related to one another – rendering the extraordinary similarities between them all the more fascinating.

A Facebook post by a royal enthusiast pointed out that Charlotte not only mirrors her late grandmother, Princess Diana, but also appears strikingly similar to her late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Childhood photographs of the two women were positioned alongside an image of Charlotte, and the resemblances are remarkable, with commenters expressing difficulty in determining which Royal Family member she most closely resembles.

Social media users debating the post were split, with some claiming Charlotte “looks like the Queen” while others insisted she “resembles Diana”, drawing comparisons to both her late relatives. However, many maintained she is “a beautiful young girl in her own right”.

One commenter observed: “Charlotte looks like Charlotte. She is very pretty and has inherited the beauty genes of her mother, Diana, and the Queen, but she will be beautiful because of that as she grows into a beautiful woman. God bless you, Princess Charlotte.”

It’s not only Facebook followers who believe Charlotte is becoming reminiscent of her grandmother, as she’s recently begun adopting similar fashion choices. At the Easter Matins service in early April, Charlotte appeared in an ensemble that bore a striking resemblance to outfits worn by the late Princess Diana.

According to Good Housekeeping, Charlotte’s attire consisted of a camel-coloured A-line coat dress featuring chocolate suede accents, created by Catherine Walker. The look mirrored a comparable camel-coloured coat dress Diana had donned during the 1980s, which was crafted by Arabella Pollen.

Sadly, Princess Charlotte never got the opportunity to meet her grandmother, as Princess Diana died in 1997 when her son – and Charlotte’s father – Prince William was merely 15 years old.

However, she shared a particularly special relationship with her great-grandmother, the late Queen, who passed away in 2022 when Charlotte was seven. The Queen made a profoundly significant decision that would fundamentally transform their family’s future, introducing a major amendment to Royal protocol that transformed the line of succession.

Prior to the birth of William and Kate’s first child, the Queen brought into effect the Succession to the Crown Act, which modernised antiquated Royal regulations, guaranteeing their children would possess equal entitlement to the throne, regardless of their sex.

While Prince George’s standing as third, and now second, in the succession remained unchanged as a male heir, the Queen’s ruling secured their daughter’s position and prevented her from being pushed down the order following the arrival of their third child, Prince Louis.

We hope Princess Charlotte has a wonderful 11th birthday!
