Britain’s Got Talent judge KSI apologised after giving a red buzzer to Salford singer Katherine O’Malley during the second semi-final.

Salford star Katherine O’Malley returned to Britain’s Got Talent on Saturday (May 2) night for the second week of live semi-finals. She first auditioned on Britain’s Got Talent back in 2018 – before appearing again in 2019 and 2020.

It was six years ago that viewers last saw her make it to the live semi-finals alongside her husband, Joe, during which she dressed as Elsa from Frozen and Joe as Olaf.

As she appeared on the stage, Katherine played a medley of songs including Popular from Wicked. She surprised the judges as husband Joe made a tap-dancing appearance near the end.

However, during her performance Katherine sadly received two red buzzers – one from KSI and the other from Alesha Dixon. At the end, KSI admitted he didn’t enjoy it.

He said: “I didn’t like that one bit if I’m being honest. I’m sorry bro but that was one of the worst tap dancing I’ve ever seen in my life”. Alesha admitted she buzzed because she missed Katherine performing with Joe instead of solo.

Katherine admitted she still had a great time and enjoyed the costume changes. Speaking to the Manchester Evening News ahead of the semi-final, she shared: “The BGT audience is just amazing, so no matter what the judges think, they’re always supportive of everybody.

“I just love it, and I love doing the show, so I always try and focus on the audience. You’ve got the adrenaline rush and it’s always a positive experience”.

Saturday night’s golden buzzer went to dance troupe LMA after impressing Alesha with their unique performance. Stacey Solomon also made a brief appearance in the audience to support her golden buzzer act, Braunstone Community primary school.

Viewers at home were quick to support Katherine, and on X (formerly known as Twitter), @hannah__03x wrote: “im not even watching but I will be voting for katherine because im sick of pre planned boring acts , need some real variety that reminds me of what BGT once was”

@2001joe_mendy added: “Pink, black, purple & gold. 3 different costumes & her husband Joe on stage. Katherine certainly gave a entertaining performance.”
