Princess Eugenie deviated from royal tradition with her third pregnancy announcement.
She and her husband Jack Brooksbank shared the news on May 4.
They also share sons August and Ernest.
Princess Eugenie’s latest pregnancy announcement looked a little different than it has in years past. The 36-year-old, who is expecting her third child with husband Jack Brooksbank, subtly broke tradition when she shared the news on May 4.
In an Instagram post uploaded to the British royal family’s official account, Eugenie and her husband’s parents weren’t mentioned. Their two young sons appeared in the photo, gazing at a sonogram image of their new sibling.

“Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their third child together, due this summer,” the caption began. “August (aged 5) and Ernest (aged 2) are also very excited to have another sibling join the family.”
“His Majesty The King has been informed and is delighted with the news,” it concluded.
The language marked a departure from previous royal baby announcements, which have typically included references to both sides of the family.

When Princess Eugenie’s first pregnancy was revealed in 2020, Buckingham Palace wrote, “The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York, Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are delighted with the news.”
Meanwhile, just 18 months ago, the verbiage “both families” was used in her sister Princess Beatrice’s latest pregnancy announcement. Similar wording also appeared in statements confirming Beatrice and Eugenie’s pregnancies in 2021 and 2023, respectively.

Beatrice shares daughters Sienna, 4, and Athena, 1, with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
Eugenie and Beatrice’s parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, stopped going by the Duke and Duchess of York amid renewed interest in their relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In October, King Charles made the historic move of removing his younger brother’s princely title, no longer allowing him to use the styling of His Royal Highness (HRH), a privilege he inherited at birth.
